WSA Edge Micro Academy Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WOOSTER SOCCER ASSOCIATION EDGE MICRO ACADEMY: A FUN AND EDUCATIONAL INTRODUCTION TO SOCCER FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS

Wooster, Ohio – 3-20-2025 – The WSA Edge Micro Academy is excited to announce its inaugural season, offering a fun and engaging introduction to soccer for children ages 4-6. This program will be led by experienced coaches Graham Ford and Wooster High School Men's Coach JP Lytle, who will guide young athletes through the basics of the game in an enthusiastic and supportive environment.

The academy will teach key skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting while promoting movement, coordination, and teamwork. Designed to build confidence and a love for soccer, it’s the perfect introduction for young players. Parents are also invited to participate, with support available for aspiring coaches. Whether new to soccer or experienced, parents will receive guidance to confidently lead and encourage their children’s development.

Many families had signed up for the City of Wooster's Recreation Micro program expecting that Graham and JP would be running it. Unfortunately, after registration closed, we were notified by the city that the recreation department has decided to head in a different direction, and Graham and JP will no longer be running that program. WSA is pleased to offer this opportunity to honor those expectations by creating our own micro program, ensuring that young players and their families still receive the same high-quality experience and outstanding format. In lieu of this news, should families choose to migrate to WSA Edge Micro Academy in support of Graham and JP, the city will issue a full refund.

The WSA Edge Micro Academy aims to create an environment where children can develop their skills and passion for soccer, while parents actively participate in their growth. This program is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience soccer in a fun and educational setting.

On Saturday, 22 of our Wooster Edge players had the opportunity to walk out onto the field with players from the Columbus Crew and Atlanta United soccer teams. They also had the chance to see the MLS Cup that the Columbus Crew was presented from winning last season! Such a great experience.

Both the WHS Boys and Girls HS teams had youth nights where Edge players had the opportunity to attend the game and be ball boys/girls. We want to thank the high school for allowing us this opportunity.
